Domaine Mayrac Esprit Nature Chenin Blanc
This is a new wine from Domaine Mayrac this year (2017) under their "Esprit Nature" label. It's an imporvement on their No SO2 Chenin, being a little fuller and richer in flavour with a longer finish. It's grown at altitude giving the wine a lovely freshness.
Esprit Nature Blanc from Domaine Mayrac is made from Chenin Blanc, from vineyards high up on the hill overlooking the winery. Jane and I visited and were amazed to see the difference between this organic vineyard whose soil was teeming with life, and the adjacent neighbour's vineyard which was not organically farmed. This soil was barren with no life in it whatsoever. And what a difference this makes to the wine.
