Moncaro Atavico Rosso Piceno
70% Montepulciano and 30% Sangiovese with no added sulphites from this large cooperative producer in northern Italy.
This wine is slightly different to our others as Moncaro are a good sized cooperative producer in Le Marche, Italy. They make a range of wines from top end Monteplucianos retailing for upwards of £30 per bottle, to good value entry level wines. They are also part of a consortium of like minded wineries pioneering more natural winemaking in northern Italy hence have produced a couple of wines with no added sulphites. This isn't the same as our artisan families who farm the land themselves and make only a few thousand bottles, this is more in keeping with the type of sulphite free wines you may find with general wine retailers. But they are pretty good and reasonably priced so we are listing them as I've been dealing with Moncaro wines for over ten years.
